Tianna Leigh Connie (Sunrise Woman) Shingoose-Chief

It is with broken hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of Tianna Leigh Connie Shingoose-Chief, known in spirit as Sunrise Woman, on April 5, 2025, at the age of 26. Tianna was born on November 23, 1998, in The Pas, Manitoba, to her loving parents, Charlene Chief and Manny Spence.

Tianna was a traditional woman, deeply grounded in her culture, her spirit, and her values. She carried her name, Sunrise Woman, with quiet strength—rising each day to bring light, warmth, and love to those around her. She was a gentle yet powerful presence whose kindness touched everyone who knew her.

Her proudest role was that of a mother. Tianna leaves behind her two beautiful children, Tailynn (age 2) and Toren (9 months), who were the center of her world and the brightest lights in her life. Her love for them was fierce and unwavering, and her legacy will continue through their laughter, their stories, and the lessons she passed on to them.

Tianna is survived by her life partner, Dillion Monkman, her parents Charlene Chief and Manny Spence, and her siblings: Evan Spence, Tamia Spence- Chief, Jeremiah Nelson, Tiller Spence,  Enayda Spence,Carlito Contois-Chief,Chevy McKay,and Derrick McKay. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandmothers, Geraldine Shingoose and Noreen Olson.

She was predeceased by her grandfather, Joseph Spence, and is now reunited with him in the spirit world.

Tianna was an entrepreneur with a vision and a heart for creating beauty. Whether through her craft, her voice, or her presence, she inspired others and uplifted those around her. She was a proud Indigenous woman, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a niece, and a friend—one who walked with purpose and love.

She leaves behind a large and loving family, including numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will carry her memory and spirit forward. We take comfort in knowing that Sunrise Woman now walks with the ancestors, wrapped in love, surrounded by peace. Her spirit will rise with each new day, and her memory will live on in all of us who were blessed to know her.

All who knew and loved Tianna are welcome to join us in celebrating her life, her love, and the light she brought into this world.
