It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Shelley Diane Morgan, on Dec 1 2023 at St Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg Manitoba. Shelley was born November 13, 1963 in Winnipeg, and just got to celebrate her 60th birthday while she was in the hospital.
Shelley was predeceased by her Parents Pat and Don Girden, and her best friend Kathie Grocholski.
Shelley is survived by her husband of 38 years, Warren Morgan, son Brandon (Grandson Merik) and son Devon (Nola). In addition to this she leaves behind her brother Terrey Girden (Cheryl), nephews Michael (Amanda), Chad (Danielle), Niece Sarah (John), sister in law Gladys, Sandra (nephew Travis), Linda (Guy) and life long foster sister Marie Larsen (Ron). She leaves behind countless friends, and was a strong believer that family is who you make it, her friends were very much her family.
During her 35 years with Canstar, she developed many close relationships with both her co-workers and customers alike. She had a strong passion for what she did, and always encouraged those around her to get out of their comfort zones, to be their best selves. She was always up for a challenge, right to the very end.
Through their 38 years of marriage, Shelley and Warren enjoyed vacationing to many places together, her favorite being Hawaii. In recent years, they re-ignited their love for camping, and found a little spot in Grand Beach to call home. She loved to entertain out there, and she made sure to keep Warren busy with various projects, and creating a quaint, welcoming spot for guests.
It is often joked that Shelley's favorite son is her dog Gus, but all her fur babies were greatly adored by her. While reminiscing, many great stories were shared about Rhea, Dubbs, Maxx and even Sparky. Getting Gus was the light that Shelley desperately needed while battling her illness, he was her shadow and helped keep her going. During her stay at both Health Sciences Centre and St. Boniface, the staff allowed him to visit her, and it brought her so much joy in her final days.
Over a tough 2.5 year battle, Shelley waited patiently for a lung transplant after being diagnosed with interstitial lung disease (ILD). She fought a fierce and courageous battle and never once showed that she was afraid. She got through these tough times by staying close to her true witty self, cracking jokes and making orders right to her very last day.
Shelley, you battled hard for 2.5 years and never complained. You may have lost the battle, but to us you won the war. Rest in Peace our sweet angel.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at both Health Sciences Centre and St. Boniface Hospital for the kind and committed care they gave Shelley while she was there.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice in Shelley's name. The family would also like to ask that you consider organ donation at https://www.transplantmanitoba.ca/decide/sign-up-for-life.
