Rudolph James Mercer

Rudolph James Mercer (Rudy/Rude the Dude), beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, brother-in-law, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on the morning of October 28, 2025, at the age of 84.

Born on January 1, 1941, in Favourable Lake, Ontario, Rudy lived a life defined by kindness, quiet strength, and deep devotion to his loved ones. Growing up in the rugged beauty of northern Manitoba instilled in him a love of nature as a fisherman and carpenter, hard work, and community that remained with him throughout his life.

Rudy built a life grounded in integrity and compassion. Whether he was lending a helping hand, sharing stories, or spending time with his grandchildren, his warmth and gentle humor touched everyone who knew him. He believed in doing things the right way — not for recognition, but because it was the right thing to do.

Rudy is predeceased by his mother Martha (John Beebe) and father Stanley, sisters Minnie, Mary, Florence, Olive, Grace, and brother Carlo. Mother-in-law, father-in-law, numerous brothers-in-law, and sister-in-law Rebecca.

Rudy is survived by his loving wife Margaret, son Tony, daughters Corrina (Gerald), Illa (Chopper), Patsy (Marven), and Carmen, grandchildren Tonette, Tylor (Cameron and Tylor Junior), Megan, Kayla, and Kristen, Paige, and Payten, and sisters Patsy (Dale), Gladys, and Anne, who were the center of his world.

Though his passing leaves a deep void, his spirit will live on in the lessons he taught, the love he gave along with his humor, and the memories shared by all who were fortunate to know him.

Rudy James Mercer will be remembered for his unwavering love, steady wisdom, and the quiet grace with which he lived his life.

 A wake service will be held to celebrate Rudy’s life, on November 6th from 7pm – 10pm, at Eternal Grace Funerals (10-1111 Logan Ave Winnipeg MB), with a memorial service to follow on November 7th, at 11am, also at Eternal Grace Funerals
