Rose Elizabeth Spence

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our Dear Mother, Granny, Great-Granny, Sister, Auntie, Cousin and Friend. Rose Elizabeth Spence passed away Friday, June 13, 2025, at home with family by her side. Rose was born on October 14, 1956, in Ashern MB. She grew up in Vogar until she moved to Winnipeg in 1969 and later became status with Lake Manitoba First Nation in 1998. 

Rose was the kind of person who always opened her home to those she loved. Family was her life, and she always put them first. She was a single mom for many years, and her children were her main priority. She made sure her daughters did well in school and were respectful young women. And if you were friends with her kids, she would feed you, tell you straight and always have an open chair if you needed to talk. Her true love Derek came into her life when the girls were teenagers and stood by her side until he lost his battle with cancer this past January. Being a grandmother was very important to Rosie. She played a key role in raising the twins Adam and Ashley and was proud to provide childcare for her youngest grandson Joseph when his mom went back to work in 2004. She enjoyed listening to NCI radio station, Saturday NCI bingo and playing her Casino & Vegas computer online games.

Rose was predeceased by parents Elizabeth and Louis "Louie" Spence, son Adam Spence, brother's Joseph, Douglas, Norman, Daniel and Gordon. Sister Mary Nuessler. Nephew's Stewart Maytwayashing, and Joseph "Beeper" Spence.

She’s survived by her daughter's Caroline (Kristen), Leah (Eric). Brother's Stanley and Wallace, Sister Georgina, her Grandchildren Santana (Allison), Dylan, Rainii, Joseph (Destiny) Nodin (Caitlin), Adam (Heidi), Ashley (Sawyer), Phoenix, Andrea, Ellice, and Isaiah. Great Grandchildren Shilo, Ezkiel, baby Matty and Zoey, Nieces, Nephews, Cousin's, God Children and Friends.

Wake service will be held on Thursday, June 26th, 2025, from 7pm – 11pm at Eternal Grace Funerals, 10-1111 Logan Ave, Winnipeg, MB.

Service will be held the following day, Friday, June 27th, 2025, at 12pm, also at Eternal Grace Funerals.

Cremation to follow.
