Rick was born in “Little Longlac” (Errington Township), Ontario on October 7,1962. Rick was the 16th child born in a family of 17 children to Albert and Madeline Towegejick ( Towegishig).
He passed away unexpectedly on December 10,2024 in Winnipeg.
Rick grew up in his home community of Long Lake 58 First Nation where he enjoyed playing hockey and baseball as a youth. He later moved to Winnipeg as a young adult and relocated to Sudbury for a short time before returning to Winnipeg. He worked for many years at St. Boniface Pallet.
He is survived by his partner Angela Sinclair (Angie); his 2 children Ricky-Lynn Ducharme-Towegishig, his son Quinn Towegishig and 3 grandsons in Ontario; brothers Leo Towegejick (Barb), Allan Towegishig (Gail), Joseph Towegishig (May), and Noel Towegejick; sisters Marie Martens (Kurt) and Alice Wesley (late Murphy Wesley); sister-in-law Marlene Towegishig.
Rick was predeceased by his parents Albert Towegejick and Mother Madeline (Taylor) (Towegishig/Towegejick) Hautamaki; brothers Ronald (Big R), William, Nelson, Isadore, Paul, Robert; sisters Mabel Towegishig and Ann Stevenson; by his infant brothers Raymond and John.
He is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Rick was known for his caring compassion for others, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. His quietness and respect he had for his family and others, we will miss him, his laughter and kindness.
Wake service will be held on Sunday January 5,2025 from 6 p.m. till 10 p.m. at Eternal Grace Funerals. Service will follow on Monday January 6,2025 at 11 a.m. also at the chapel. Interment Brookside Cemetery.
