Raymond "Mungichoon" Chartrand

The family of Raymond Chartrand sadly shares the news of his passing, November 4, 2021, at 11:10 p.m. at the Health Science Centre. Ray left us shortly after engaging in heartfelt prayers with family present and on FaceTime lead by the hospital chaplain by his bedside.

Ray was predeceased by his parents Antoine and Irene Chartrand. Ray was 66 years old. He was born in Duck Bay, Manitoba August 25, 1955.
He is survived by his siblings, Anthony (Anne), Robert (Connie), Alvin, Richard, Ruby (Serge), Mildred, Karen, Colinda (Randy), Selina, and Jennifer. His children Robert, Kayla, Christopher, Cristian, Joanne, James, Norman and numerous grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and many relatives.

Ray was into and enjoyed hunting most of his life and started at an early age back in Duck Bay. He also had a passion repairing automobiles. He was self-taught, might call a back lane mechanic. He was known to help friends and family repair their vehicles. Usually buying your own parts or going to the auto wreck. He was always fine with whatever he was paid. That’s just the type of person he was.
Ray was always grounded with his culture and spoke his native language fluently.
Ray was strong in his relationship with Jesus Christ, even through with personal problems that he was dealing with. He also had a huge heart and that alone was the greatest asset any person can own. He will be greatly missed and loved by all who got a change to know him.

We would like to thank all the doctors and staff in the Medical ICU and Palliative Care Unit at the Health Science Centre for taking care of our brother.

Funeral Viewing and Services will be held on November 16, 2021, from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm at Eternal Grace Funeral Home 1111 Logan Ave, Winnipeg, Mb. Cremation to follow, then a graveside service will be held at Brookside Cemetery, on November 18, 2021, at 1:00pm.
