Prisca Marquez

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the gentle passing of our beloved matriarch, Prisca Allanigue Marquez.  She was 91 years old.

Predeceased by her husband, Julian, Nanay Ising is mourned by her son, Ernesto (Librada), her grandchildren Richard (Carla), Sarah-Jane (Michael), John (Julia), and niece Rhodora (Nestor).  Nanay was loved by her great-grandsons Avery and Ashley, and her great-granddaughters Abernathy and Anderson. 

Also left to mourn our loss are the families Celones, DeVera, Shiels, Sison, Reyes, Hicks, Villiagracia, Cenina, Barroso, Reves, Arbilo, DeGuzman, Lazaro, Bernarte, Ano, Bantog, Bolante, Rivera, Allanigue, and DeLeon.

Born on January 19, 1929, Ising was raised in the city of Parañaque, Philippines.  She married Lolo Julian in 1945 and gave birth to their only child, Ernesto.  Having widowed early and a single parent, Nanay worked hard as a housekeeper and nanny.  In 1979, Nanay Ising immigrated to Winnipeg to live with Ernesto and his growing family.

Throughout the years on Stella Avenue, Nanay lived as a dedicated grandmother, caring for her grandchildren before and after school, as well as being a nanny for the children of family and neighbours.  Nanay will be fondly remembered chatting on the telephone, whistling while working in the kitchen, watching wrestling and TFC variety shows, and playing bingo.

The family extends its most heart felt gratitude to Nanay’s home care support over the years, with special thanks to Tiffany, Maria, Helen, and Rita for their kind fondness for Nanay.  Your support also meant so much to Librada and Ernesto and we will miss seeing you.  Our sincere thanks to Dr. Ponsuge A. Tissera for his years of care and support of our Lola.  And finally, thank you to the 4th floor staff at Lions Manor who made Nanay’s brief stay pleasant and comfortable.

Interment will take place at Thomson at the Park on McGillvray, Section 23 on Friday, November 27, 2020 at 11:30 am.  Loved ones are asked to remain in their vehicles and observe only from their cars.  Thank you for supporting safe public health practices during this time.
