Nathan Blair Nepinak "Bannock"

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Nathan Blair Nepinak “Yellow Eyed Wolf Boy” Sunrise: September 20, 1979, Sunset: June 5, 2026.

Nathan leaves to mourn his Dad, Kenny McKay, sons Joshua and Jaxson and the mother of his sons Tracy Daniels, his grandson Elias Hall, sisters Jaunita and Natalie (Steve) Nieces and nephews: Rheannon, Raelene, Nicole, Kaynon, Keneisha, Keira, Dyllan, Miley, Steve JR Savannah, Shaylin, Ayven, Chantel, Christie, Jordyn, and Chaisen, many great nieces and nephews, aunties, uncles, cousins and friends, Step father Gerald Campbell and his children.

Nathan is predeceased by his mom Frances Nepinak, brothers Jason and Clayton McKay, sister Pamela Jack, grandparents Solange Ducharme nee Nepinak, Baptiste and Cecile McKay, numerous aunties, uncles, and cousins to mention, his god parents whom he had love and respect for David and Mikie Nepinak, his best friend Thomas Ducharme, who gave him the nickname Bannock, his mother in law Wanda Daniels and their koko Grace Daniels. We take comfort in knowing Nathan was greeted into the spirit world by his loved ones who left before him.

Nathan Blair Nepinak, the Yellow Eyed Wolf Boy, born on September 20, 1979. Nathan, as most of you know him by Bannock, started his journey to the spirit world on June 5, 2026. Nathan was always the protector to his sisters, sons, dad, nieces and nephews, cousins, and to all those he held dearly in his heart. Nathan was an outgoing, outspoken guy, he was good to talk and was never shy to say what he was thinking. He made friends everywhere he went, even with complete strangers. When Nathan was a young boy his mom Frances moved them out to Vancouver BC where they spent most of their childhood, wandering the streets and getting into mischief. In 1997, Nathan’s mom Frances passed away, and it changed their lives forever. They then moved to Pine Creek with their dad Kenny; Nathan became the fierce protector to his sisters. When they grew into young adults they moved to Winnipeg where Nathan stepped into the father role, taking care of his sisters. Nathan met Tracey and together they had 2 sons who were Nathan’s world. Nathan loved Tracey. Nathan was so proud to be a dad, he was proud of his boys, Nathan and Tracey had opened their hearts and door to Baby Tina, who lived with them for a few years. Nathan loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own, treating all the kids fairly. As soon as Uncle Bannock walked in, the kids knew they were getting treats. Nathan had a big heart; he was a generous man and made sure that everyone he was close to wasn’t going without. Nathan loved to help our homeless relatives, he would drive around in the wintertime handing out toques, mitts, sandwiches and coffee. He always put everyone before himself.

Nathan always wanted others to laugh even if it brought out the “pesty” side, he would tease and bug his sisters, cousins, nieces and nephews, Tracey, even his dad, just so you could have a laugh.

Nathan worked for most of his life starting off pumping gas as a young boy in Vancouver, his most recent employment lasted for 22 years but he was unfortunately laid off due to the COVID pandemic. Nathan was a very smart man; he was a businessman.

Nathan didn’t like to see his family heartbroken or crying, so today we celebrate Nathan’s life and to honour the man he was. Nathan would want you to laugh with each other, to hug each other, but mostly to show love to each other.

The family would like to express their upmost gratitude to Pine Creek Chief and Council, to Lee Gott, David Mckay and Taz Mckay, to all those who had monetary donated, and to those who had donated their time cooking and preparing Nathan’s feast, we all know Nathan loved to eat and to feed others.

Honorary pallbearers: Kaynon, Keneisha, Keira, Dyllan, Miley, Steve JR, Rheannon, Raelene, and Nicole.

Celebration of Life to be held on Saturday June 27, 2026, from 11:00am – 4:00pm, service to start at 12:30pm, at Eternal Grace Funerals (10-1111 Logan Ave. Winnipeg MB).

Cremation to follow.

Interment will take place at a later date in Pine Creek MB.
