Moses Powderhorn passed away suddenly at age 67. He left behind his two daughters Corinna and Danielle Powderhorn, and his grand children Morgan and Hayden, and great grandson Nova. He also has two grandchildren Miles and Zoey being raised by their father in Alberta.
He also had stepdaughter from a second marriage to Dianne, Shauna, and step grand children. Diandra and Silas.
Moses comes from a family of 14 children, and he was the 7th in the family.
Moses grew up in foster care and served in air cadets. When he returned home, he learned to speak Dene and hunted, fished and enjoyed the outdoors. He served as councillor and chief for Sayisi Dene, he worked for Awasis for a time, he wore many hats throughout his life.
Moses went by “Moose” and he had a loud booming voice and laughter. He will be missed, and we will always think of and love him.
Throughout his life he had a passion to serve his people in any way though the community. He will be missed by those who knew him as a father, brother, friend, grandpa, brother-in-law, and as a leader for the people too.
Wake service will be held on Thursday September 7, 2023, from 7 p.m. till 11 p.m. at Eternal Grace Funerals. Wake services will continue at Sayisi Dene First Nation on Saturday September 9,2023 with burial to follow.
