Mary Lambert Obituary

“Miss Ellie” “Jerry”

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mom, (great) granny, aunt, sister (in law), cousin and friend, Eleanor, on Oct. 16, 2023.

Eleanor was well known and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She cherished and loved her family and friends.  Eleanor was born and raised in Berens River, and later in her years, she married her husband John Lambert, in Poplar River. During her life in Poplar, she served two terms on the Band Council and helped with the church fundraising, but she mostly just loved being at home where she cooked big meals and baked treats for her family and friends. At her passing Eleanor lived in Winnipeg because of dialysis, and with her years of living in the city she helped many, many people no matter what her situation was. We started calling her home, drop in or place for the homeless, because that’s where people would go if they were homeless\had no place to go, or just needed to eat. She also housed many students who were attending high school and did her best to support them with their education. For those that knew her best, she was always there for support and compassion to those who needed a shoulder to cry on.

Eleanor was predeceased by her husband John Lambert, her parents: Gordon and Charlotte Berens, sisters: Yvonne Nuga, Lila Boubard (Bill), Bernadine Scott and a baby girl. Her brothers: David (Aurillia), Melvin, Elijah, Jules, Norman and Kirby Berens. Uncles: Harold McKay (Maryanne), Alex Berens (Georgina), Victor Berens (Irene), Murray Berens, Allan Bittern (Annie). Aunts: Clementine Bittern (Norway) and Victoria Boulanger (Jimmy).  grandson: Brydon Storm, FIL: Fred Lambert (Maude) and BIL: Russell Lambert (Marie).

She leaves to mourn her passing, her brothers: Allan Berens (Viola), and Albert Bear (Barb), daughters Kate (Guy) and Kelly (Barry), Sons: Eric (Angela), Rudy and Ashley (Maggie) brother-in-law Fred Lambert (Carol) ;  24 grandkids, two of whom she raised as her own Joseph and Kaiden Lambert, 30 great grandkids, Aunt Delores Berens, nieces & nephews she treated as her own, and many, many cousins and friends.
