Mary "Grace" Catcheway
Born: July 17, 1944 - Died Feb 9, 2024
Mary "Grace" was loved by many and will surely be missed.
Grace was born and raised in Pine Creek First Nation and later in life moved to Sakgeeng First Nation. Grace was a survivor of the residential school system despite all of this she was a resilient woman. Grace raised many children in her life time and was known by many simply as "mom" she chose to raise her grandchildren and great grand children as she did not want them raised with strangers. Grace was a skilled seamstress as she worked in a factory for many years and used to skills to clothe many of us. She was also very good at cooking and loved to feed people that came into her home she was known to cook huge Christmas dinners for everyone her homemade pies were amazing.
She was pre-deceased by many loving family members and we are certain she was greeted by them as she journeyed to the creator. In the last few months of her life she was very sick and struggled to care for herself.
She is survived by her daughter Brenda, her sons Lee (Sherry) Gott, Barry and many nieces and nephews along with her many grandchildren, great grand children and great great grand children.
We want to thank the home care providers and the staff at Grace Hospital for the care they gave our mother. We also want to thank everyone who reached out and supported us during our time of need.
