Mary Berens Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Mary Yvonne Berens (nee Leveque) at age 77 years old. Our mother departed peacefully with family around her.

Our mother lived in Berens River most of her life and resided at Deer Lodge Centre where she passed on March 24, 2024. Yvonne our mother was born in Little Grand Rapids to parents Mike and Maggie (Owen) Leveque. Our mother then married Peter William Berens (our dad) at the age of 16 years old and made her home in Berens River.

Our mother leaves behind her children Eunice William, Michael James, Remus Steve, Miley Stanford, Bernice Emily (Joe), Mikey Pete, Willie Carmen, Delia Esther, Derek Lee (Janice), Benjiman Johnson, Nickolas Dyson and other children that she had helped raised in her early life and fostered.

Yvonne was predeceased by her husband Peter William on March 13, 1988, her father Mike and Maggie Leveque, her sons Randy and Willard, her daughters Savannah, baby girl Becky Lynn on March 14, 2004, and two miscarriages/still births. Her brothers; Simon, Charlie, Alec, Norman, Matthew, Edwin, Henry and sisters; Alice (Dunsford), Suzanne (Chartrand) Claire and Irene (Flett). Also numerous family members before her.

Our mother surely enjoyed her rides all over the community and frequently stopped to socialize with others. She was an avid church goer and enjoyed going to neighboring communities for support and her daily Christian walk, playing her favorite gospel and country tunes on her iPad. She also loved doing her daily chores, doing laundry was her favorite thing (the towels).

Wake service will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 from 7:00 pm – 11:00 pm at Eternal Grace Funerals  10 -1111 Logan Ave, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Wake services will continue on Thursday March 28 and Friday March 29, 2024 at Church On The Rock in Berens River. Funeral on Saturday, March 30, 2024 starting at 11:00 am.
