With great sadness we regret to announce the passing of Marilyn Shirley Marie McKay, age 59 after a lengthy battle with diabetes. She was born in St Rose du Lac and lived in Crane River, Lang Ruth, Portage La Prairie, then Winnipeg, where she has resided since. She passed away on May 8th, 2024 in Winnipeg.
Marilyn was born on June 3rd, 1964 to Joyce and Henry Mckenzie. She got married on August 4, 1990 to her late husband Philip McKay. Marilyn was an amazing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She took a lot of pride in raising Jason from three months old to now. She was a very strong, kind and resilient woman.
Marilyn is survived by 3 children, Darcy, Lisa and Jason, 9 grandchildren, Felicia (John), Kaylee, Kayla, Kelvin, Kelsey, Karah, Ka-myah, Khloe, Kalayah and 4 Great-grandchildren, Kyrie, Ilyanna, Ayla and Riyah and 8 siblings, Maurice (Michelle), Daniel (Celcila), Richard (Amanda), Judy (Ralph), Ivan (Karen), Roger (Millie), Linda and Emile.
Marilyn was preceded by her husband Philip McKay in October 1998, her parents Henry and Joyce Mckenzie. As well as her partner Elie Morrisseau of 20+ years in March 2022 and her brother Stanley Mckenzie and her sister Bernice Starr.
Services will be held at Eternal Grace Funerals (1111 Logan Ave), with a wake on May 22, 2024 from 7-11 pm. The funeral service will be held on May 23, 2024 at 10:30 am at Eternal Grace, followed by a dinner in her honour. Lastly, she will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery in Portage La Prairie, MB.
