Lionel Neil Bittern

Lionel suddenly passed away February 3, 2019 in Poplar River, Mb

Predeceased by his step father, Henry Budd, mother; Blanche Budd (Bittern), father, Russell Franklin, grandfather, Gordon Bittern, grandmother, Lillian Bittern, uncles; Peter, Stanley and Donald Bittern and cousin Rick Bruce.

He is survived by his brothers, Errol Budd, Russell Lee Franklin, Charles Franklin, Greg Franklin and sisters, Andrea Klippenstein, Molly Bittern and Alisa Franklin. He will also be lovingly remembered by many cousins, uncles, aunts and friends.

Lionel enjoyed helping others especially people close to him. He was always lending a hand to different events in the community such as Treaty Days; helping at the arena and firefighting. Throughout the years Lionel became skillful at mechanics, carpentry and other outdoor activities. Some of his favorite things to do was going hunting, commercial fishing and trapping. Lionel had a very special bond with his cousin Greg who he grew up with along side as a baby and continued to be close with till his unexpected passing. Greg and Lionel considered each other as brothers over the years. Overall, Lionel’s priority was to look after his younger brother Errol who he loved dearly.

The family would like to thank Eternal Grace Funerals, Poplar River Chief & Council, and other community members who have showed support during this difficult time. He will be missed by many people.

Wake service will be held on Thursday February 7, 2019 from 7pm – 11pm Eternal Grace Funerals. Wake service will continue at the Poplar River Community Church on Friday February 8, 2019, Saturday February 9, 2019, and Sunday February 10, 2019. Funeral service will follow on Monday February 11, 2019 at 11am also from the Poplar River Community Church. Rev. Fr. Anthony officiating. Interment Poplar River cemetery.
