Linda Marie Merasty

Linda passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba, on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at 3:15pm, at the age of 65 years old.

Linda Marie Merasty (nee Bushie) of Bloodvein First Nation, born in Brandon, Manitoba on February 7, 1957.

She leaves to mourn her three daughters Grace, Belinda, and her baby Robyn; her grandchildren; sisters Marlene, Anita (Brian), and Bertha.

Linda was predeceased by her husband Simon Merasty; her parents Alex and Maria Bouchie; her sister Mary-Anna, Laura the 1st, Margaret, Christina, Carrie, Laura the 2nd, Evelyn, Alice, Theresa, and Rita; her brothers Joseph, Clifford, and three others in infancy.

She came from a large family of 18, and she was the 15th sister to find her way home to Jesus – as she accepted the Lord into her heart on Thursday, January 26, 2023.

During her early years Linda spent most of her life in foster homes. She talked about her experiences from each family home – some were loving and some were not so loving. That’s what made Linda a strong Anishinaabe Woman… laughter was her medicine; her struggle shaped her life. All endurances taught her to love more, to forgive, and she never said any hurtful words to her family, even though she lived a hard life. One thing that is comforting to our family is that the good Lord kept her from harm all the years she lived. Jesus knew that someday Linda would come home and find rest.
 

Linda fought a lengthy illness, but she was always cheerful because somehow she knew that Jesus was fighting her battles for her. The Lords Prayer comforted her, when it was whispered to her ear.

Our Father

Who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,

 As we forgive those Who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil;

For Thine is the Kingdom, and the Power. And the Glory, forever.

Forever Remembered… Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.

Wake service will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2023, from 7pm – 11pm at Eternal Grace Funerals.

Service will follow on Friday, February 3, 2023, at 11am also at the chapel. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery.
