It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our son, Kenyon Boucher. He was 39 years old. He was also a father, brother, uncle and grandson.
Kenyon leaves to mourn, his three sons, Cane, Gerlando and Axel, and his stepson, Antonio, and their mother, Amanda; his daughter, Chasity, and her mother, Alesha; Kenyon also leaves to mourn, his mother Leona; his stepfather Errol Boulanger; and his two brothers, Tom and Jordan. Predeceased are his brothers, River and Noodin; he also leaves to mourn, his biological father, Edgar Bear, and stepmother, Eileen; sisters, Sangina and Angel, and brother, Edgar Jr.; and was predeceased by Claudia and Jenny.
There are numerous aunts, uncles and cousins on both sides of his family too numerous to mention. The family says, ‘Miigwech’ to all of them, and the extended family members for their prayers and support. However, we would like to acknowledge Kenyon’s late maternal grandmother, Clara Boucher, and his living grandfather Leonard Boucher. They raised him from the age of about a year and a half.
Because of the challenges and struggles many of our Indigenous people face, Kenyon also faced these difficulties. However, we would often see him trying to do the right thing. This was seen in what he was able to accomplish. Recently, he was employed in several jobs at the same time in his hometown of Berens River First Nation. This included working in home renovations, security at the local check stop, and working at a grocery store. Prior to this, Kenyon was employed as a construction worker in Winnipeg.
As I mentioned, Kenyon struggled with the challenges many Indigenous people face. But we would often tell him about the wonderful Salvation of God through His Son, Jesus Christ, and comfort God would bring to him. He would respond to us that he was praying to God. When you’re reading this, and you have children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, no matter how old they are, encourage them to surrender their lives to Jesus Christ. And they will be saved, and their names will be written in the Lamb’s Book of Life (Revelation 21:27). This Hope in Christ is for ALL! Amen.
