On January 3, 2026, John Louis Yellowback sadly passed away, surrounded by the love of his family, at Maples Care Home in Winnipeg Manitoba.
John was born in God’s Lake, Manitoba, by parents Elsie and Alex Yellowback. He loved to hunt, fish, camp, and go out on the lake with his family and grandkids and loved to partake in fishing derbies. In his life on earth, he had served his community as a Chief, Councillor, band administrator, and band manager.
He is survived by his daughters Valerie Ross (Patrick), Jessica Yellowback, Cora Yellowback. Son Jeffrey Yellowback (Rachel). Sisters Olga Yellowback, Harriet Bradburn. Brother Oliver Yellowback, and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is predeceased by his parents Elsie and Alex Yellowback, Grandparents Mike and Sarah Yellowback. Kids Auggie Yellowback, Chico Yellowback. Brothers Bartie Yellowback, Jimmy Yellowback, Ernie Yellowback. Sister Rhoda Wood, and numerous other family members.
Wake services will be held on Tuesday January 6, 2026, from 7pm – 10pm, at Eternal Grace Funerals. Wake service will then continue on Wednesday Jan. 7, 2026, and Thursday Jan. 8, 2026, at Marcus Yellowback’s residence, in God’s River.
Funeral service to be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at God’s River Community Church.
Interment to follow at God’s River cemetery.
