Jemima Lee Ross

Born: February 1, 1937 - Passed away February 10, 2024

Jemima loved and was loved by many, she will be dearly missed by all

Jemima was born and raised in God’s Lake, also on the family trap line in Edmund Lake and then the whole Family settled in Gods River when God‘s River lodge was being built. Mom often said that “it was the woman that cleared the brush for the airstrip that is there now while the men worked on the lodge and fish guiding. She often reminisced of her loving family that she grew up with, her many aunties and grannies that helped with her upbringing and she also continued on the tradition of helping her family by raising and looking after many family members throughout the years, she loved all her nieces and nephews and the grandchildren very much.

Jemima is a survivor of the Cross Lake residential school and she often mentions of the North family that took her in during holidays. She also spend a few years in Ninette hospital in her mid-thirties because of tuberculosis

Jemima worked for 43 years as a community health representative for her community of Gods River, when she first started there was only a small trailer used as a nursing station and the nurse would come in one week a month so she was the nurse in between, she was a midwife to some of the community members, many times she would get up in the middle of the night to go tend when someone was very sick. She was very dedicated and loving, always was giving and supportive when the community was in need.

Jemima is pre-deceased by her grandparents Benjamin Okemow and Charlotte Muskego Okemow and her parents Nancy Okemow Ross and Rodrick Ross, Sisters Alice Ross, Clara Wood (Sandy Wood), Brothers Rex Ross, Alexander Ross (Hilda), Ellis Ross (Hilda), sons Justin and Kirk and also by many loving family members and friends.

Wake services this Wednesday February 14, 2024 from 7:00pm-11:00 p.m. at Eternal Grace Funerals. The family will take their loved one home on Thursday 12:00 p.m. with Perimeter Airlines
