Jeffrey Lamirande Obituary

It is with overwhelming saddness that we announce the passing of Jeffrey Wayne Joseph Lamirande on July 20, 2021 – loving dad, devoted son, brother, and uncle.  Jeff was pre-deceased by his grandparents Rita & Emile Lamirande; Alma & Hector Carriere, Uncle Roy Lamirande and niece Elisha Lamirande.  Jeff leaves behind five children - Hailey, Kali, Kristjan, Keira and Kerstiana; parents Lynne and Larry, older brother Derrick (Rachel), and nephews Mason and Carter.  He is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Jeff was born on January 19, 1981, in Winnipeg and was raised in St. Vital and Southdale areas.  Jeff was an avid sports fan and grew up playing hockey for the St. Boniface Seals and baseball for the Bonivital Black Sox which then led to playing slow pitch as an adult.  The NFL football season was his favorite time of year.  He and older brother Derrick would spend countless hours – arguing about football, who’s team was better (Jeff’s Oakland Raiders vs Derrick’s Pittsburgh Steelers) and who’s fantasy football team would come out ahead.

Jeff was a hard worker and had a tremendously strong work ethic. He had numerous jobs but enjoyed working in landscaping, paving stone and the construction industry the most.  He took pride in his work, he wasn’t one to cut corners and always made sure things were done properly.

Jeff was willing to help at the drop of a hat.  You never had to ask, he was always quick to offer.  He had a big heart and would help anyone in need.  Jeff had a great sense of humour with a hearty & contagious laugh that filled the room.

Jeff’s proudest moments in life were the births of his five children.  He loved being a dad and enjoyed watching their accomplishments – whether it was dance, sports or academic.  Being in the presence of his kids brought him the greatest joy in his life and truly filled his heart.  May his children always know how much he loved them, they were his world, and to reminisce on the great moments you shared.

Jeff’s passing leaves a hole in everyone’s heart who knew him and will be greatly missed by all.

Jeff fought hard through 34 days of hospitalization and 9 surgeries.   The family would like to give a tremendous thank you to the doctors, nurses and multiple staff in SICU at Health Sciences Centre who took such great care of him.  We are grateful for the support and prayers of family and friends during Jeff’s fight to survive.  Jeff had a huge support group – the outpour of love was truly overwhelming.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday August 28,2021 from 1pm till 3:30 pm at Spirit Park, on Station Road, Lorette, MB.  In lieu of flowers the family is recommending that donations be made to either HSC Foundation, CancerCare or a charity of your choice.
