On Monday January 5, 2026, Jacob, surrounded by his family, took his journey home into the awaiting arms of God, his beloved wife Sylvia and all other Angel family with open arms. Some of those Angels being his parents John and Emily, and brother Tony.
He is survived by his children, Robynn (Stephen), Andrea (Chuck), Deborah (Stanley), Gerald (Elizabeth), Terry, Sylvia (Carl), Simonne, Michael and Marcella. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nephews and nieces; siblings Theresa (Bernard), John (Ada), Mary (Glen), Josephine (Michael); and his best buddy Diane.
Jacob was born in Alexandria, Egypt and spent his childhood in Malta. He started his career as a Chef in his early 20’s in Canada. He worked in provinces from British Columbia all across to Quebec. One of his fondest memories and greatest sense of pride was operating his own restaurant called “Jake and the Fat Dog” in Gillam Manitoba. Working alongside family, exceptional food, jokes and laughter were serviced to so many friends. He loved movies, dancing, travel, bingo, model trains, and telling stories – check some of them out on YouTube (with the help of his buddy Shane).
Our family would like to thank all the ICU staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their care of our loved one. Plus, their kindness and compassion shown to our family.
Wake service will be held on Friday Jan. 23, 2026, from 7pm – 11pm, at Eternal Grace Funerals (10-1111 Logan Ave. Winnipeg MB).
Funeral service to follow Saturday Jan. 24, 2026, from 12 noon – 5pm, also at Eternal Grace Funerals.
Cremation to follow.
