Irma Owens

It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic passing of our beloved daughter, Irma Owens at age 24 years, on Thursday, April 17, 2025, in Berens River, Manitoba. Irma was born at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg MB on August 9, 2000, to Riley Sr. & Rose Bear. Irma was the baby girl in the Bear family, she leaves behind her beloved daughter, Kaliyah and partner Marshall Disbrowe and her sisters Georgina, Thelma, Mary-Ann, Marie (Aaron) and brothers Harvey, Riley Jr. (Eliza), Rico, Dennis, Marcus, (Trinity), numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Pre-deceased siblings, Silver and Jasmine, grandparents Oliver & Thelma Everett, Charlie Goosehead & Irma Bear, uncles Nelson and Wallace Bear.

Irma loved children just as much as she loved her own. She cherished her great nieces and nephews Laila, Peaches, Preston, Zephaniah, Samara, and Paris.  She worked at Shawenim Abinoojii Units, where she kept children in care. Irma loved life, she never once said she wanted to die or anything… she was humble and grateful for what she had., she loved going for rides around the rez and going fishing, canoeing in the summer. She enjoyed going to community events that would be held. She was friendly to everyone but very shy. She liked playing parchessi with her mom and sibling Marie, playing volleyball and going to church to go and listen, she liked making soup for her dad whenever he asked, she liked cooking and cleaning. Her favorite was seeds and having Pepsi while riding around.

Irma and her daughter Kaliyah were very close, not a day would go by and they would miss each other. Marshall will miss her deeply and carry on with precious memories to their daughter.

Wake Services will be held at Eternal Grace Funerals on 1111 Logan Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Friday, April 25, 2025, and Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the United Church in Berens River at 7:00 PM nightly, following funeral service on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 12:00 PM. Burial at the residences of Riley and Rose Bear, Roy  Bouchie and Riley Sr. will be officiating

The family would like to thank the people who were at the scene, Chief & Council and Nursing staff.
