Hawthorne Charton, 60, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away on April 15, 2026, leaving a space in this world that cannot be filled.
Born on January 3, 1966, in Savanna-la-Mar, Jamaica to Anita Jones and Lloyd Charlton, Hawthorne was known for his generosity and his easy smile, and the way he made space for others to be themselves. He had a gift for making people feel seen and valued, and though he didn’t have much, he was always willing to give to those who needed it more.
He is predeceased by his grandmother, Ida Titer; his father, Lloyd Charlton; his brothers, Roy and Patrick Charlton; and his daughter, Leslie Mortimer.
Hawthorne is survived by his beloved mother, Anita (Harry); his siblings Donovan (Bobby), Mishel, Denise, Greg and their families; and eight of his children along with their families.
Although our grief is heavy, the love he put into this world is woven into who we are, and into the stories we will continue to tell. We will miss him deeply, in ways both big and small, but we carry him with us in every act of kindness, every smile, and the sound of laughter when life gets tough.
He was loved beyond words, he will be missed, and he will never be forgotten.
Viewing will be held on Friday April 24, 2026, from 7pm – 9:30pm, at Eternal Grace Funerals (10-1111 Logan Ave. Winnipeg MB).
Cremation to follow.
