George Boucher

George Boucher of Berens River First Nation, passed away peacefully at Grace Hospital on December 1st surrounded by his devoted wife and his children.

George was born on December 3rd, 1948 to parents Albert and Annie Boucher in Berens River First Nation.

Throughout his life, he had many careers such as pulp wood cutting, firefighting forest fires, general manager at the local rock, crushing Company, and served as a band counsellor for Berens River First Nation.

On September 10th 1974 he married, Sandra (McKay) and went on to raise 6 children, Jason, Georges, Jonathan, Sonya, Justin and Alex (Granddaughter).

When George retired he spent his time listening to music, watching movies, spending time with family, and travelling the all weather road to Winnipeg.

George is survived by his wife Sandra, and children Jason, Georges, Jonathan, Sonya, Justin, Grandchildren Alex, Serena, Noah, Jayden, Annie, Taylor, Joshua, Liam, and great grandchildren.

Wake Services will be held at Eternal Grace Funerals on Wednesday December 4th starting at 7 PM, ending at 11 PM.

Wake Services will continue at Berens River United Church in Berens River First Nation on Thursday, Friday (December 5th & 6th) with services and internment following the next day (Saturday, December 7th). Pall Bearers for George will be Justin Boucher, Joshua Boucher, Sherman Flett, Noah Flett, Gerald Cochrane, and Rudy Whiteway. Reverend Roy Bouchie will be officiating all services.

Family would also like to extend their gratitude and thanks to the staff of Grace Hospital for their generous care of George during his time there.
