Francis Hudson Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend Francis Charles Hudson of Berens River. Francis passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on May 13th, 2026, at 10:27 pm at the age of 65. He battled cancer for 16 months with family by his side the whole step of the way.

Born July 7th, 1960, in Berens River to Joseph Hudson and Nora Berens. Francis was known for his big, beautiful heart. He spent his life working and providing for his family as a commercial fisherman. Throughout his life, he worked many different jobs, always approaching each one with dedication, humility and a strong work ethic. He worked as a fisherman helper, ski-doo packer, flooded waterways, bridge technician, sanitary engineer, drove the sewer truck, drove a hearse, rock crusher, pontoon driver, carpenter, a carney, supervisor, subbed for a day, potato picker and a fire fighter. He chaperoned school trips. He trapped and hunted as well.

On April 6th, 1979, Francis married his beloved wife, Wanda Hudson and together they created a beautiful life. He is survived by his wife and children William (Desmond) Hudson, Jennifer (Colin) Lowen, James Hudson, Sandra (Michael) Smeaton, Rebekah (Jayson) Saunders, his grandchildren Hannah Lowen, Evan (Kierrah Andrews) Hudson, Heidi Lowen, Hayden Lowen, Kalli Smeaton, Skye Smeaton, Tommy Saunders, Elaina Sinclair and one great-grandson Hozier Hudson. His brothers Joe (Delilah) Hudson, Eric Muswagon, Joesph Muswagon, Anthony Hudson, his sisters Vera Mitchell, Margaret Hudson, Blossom Hudson, Gladys Bruce and Josephine Muswagon.

He was predeceased by his parents Joseph Hudson, Nora (Roderick) Berens, his grandmother Marjorie Hudson, his infant son Gary Flett, his brother Rocky Hudson, his sister Fannie Hudson, his brother in-law Leonard Mitchell, his father in-law James Swain, mother in-law Maria Swain, sister-in law Lorna Swain and numerous aunts and uncles.

Wake service will be held Wednesday May 20th, 2026, from 7:00pm - 11:00pm, at Eternal Grace Funerals (10-1111 Logan Ave. Winnipeg, MB).

Wake service will continue Thursday May 21st, 2026, and Friday May 22nd, 2026, at the Revival & Restoration Church in Berens River.

Funeral Service will follow on Saturday May 23rd, 2026, at 12:00 pm, with interment to follow at Revival & Restoration Church.

Officiating service will be Pastor Langford Swain.

Pallbearers; Darcy Hudson, James Berens, Rocky Hudson, Rocky Meeches-Hudson, Courtney Hudson, Jonah Hudson, Riley Sinclair Jr, and Eunice Berens.

Honourary Pallbearers are all his children, their spouses, his grandchildren and great grandchild.
