Esther Freda Chief

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Esther Freda Chief at 88 years old from Garden Hill First Nation who departed peacefully, leaving a legacy of love and compassion. Born in Big Black River, Manitoba, on September 27, 1936. Esther resided in Winnipeg most of her life.

Esther lived a life marked by an unwavering dedication to her family and a profound generosity of spirit. Esther was a truly loving person with a big heart, always ready to extend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her warmth and kindness touched countless lives, making her a cherished presence in her community.

She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Albert and Jessie Anderson (nee Mason), her devoted husband, Alvin Roy Chief, and sadly, seven of her children: David, Tina, Wayne, Allen, Robert, Michael, and Patricia.

Esther's enduring love lives on through her two surviving children, Cynthia and Gerald, and her adopted children, Mikey, Charmaine, and David. She also leaves behind her dear sister, Ellen, and a vast and loving extended family, including many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.

Her grandson Lil boss man Cameron spent his weekends always by grammas side.

Esther's memory will be forever cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her selflessness and boundless love will continue to inspire all who carry her in their hearts.

In honour of Esther Chief

Her wake will be held at Eternal Grace Funeral Home 1111 Logan Ave on July 3rd, 2025, from 7pm to 10pm. Final prayers and viewing will be held at Eternal Grace on July 4th, 2025, from 12pm to 1pm. Followed by a procession to Brookside Cemetery to Esther's final resting place at 2pm with a closing prayer.

Pallbearers will be Gerald, David, Joseph, Kayden, Cameron and Rob.
