It is with great sadness that the family of Derek Lee Berens Sr., announces his tragic passing on November 15, 2025, in Berens River, Manitoba at the age of 45. Born on October 19, 1980, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Derek was a devoted partner & father, a loving affectionate grandfather, an outstanding uncle and brother, and a cherished friend to many. Derek was a talented carpenter (The Professional), and mentor to whom he worked with and for. He loved the great outdoors and family gatherings. Derek is survived by his loving fiancé of 26 years, Janice; his daughters, Rochelle (Cameron), Brooke, Chloe; and sons, Austin and Derek Jr.; and his beautiful grandchildren; Rhiannon, Josie and Lakelynn, and his siblings; Eunice, James, Remus, Mileys, Bernice, Mikey, Willie, Delia and Ben, his loving mother in law; Beverly Green and in-laws, Arnold, Daphne, Ernest, Jr., and Darrell.
Derek was predeceased by his parents; Peter & Mary Yvonne Berens, grandparents; Mike & Mary Leveque, Sandy & Mary Berens, and five precious siblings; Willard, Randy, Savannah, baby boy Berens and Becky Lynn.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Eternal Grace Funerals - 1111 Logan Ave, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Wake services will be in Berens River United Church Friday, November 28, Saturday, November 29, and funeral held on Sunday, November 30, 2025, with pastor Roy Bouchie officiating. Followed by a burial at the Berens residence of his late parent’s property.
Pall bearers; Willie Berens, Benjamin Berens, Peter William Joe Berens, Arnold Sawanash, Ernest Jr. Green, Darrell Green, Amory Hudson and Daryle Hudson.
Honorary pall bearers are his most beloved family and close friends.
