Deborah Kennedy-Linklater Obituary

Deborah Christine Linklater nee Kennedy
“Tayn ta sih” (Bluejay)
“Namay n Otootaymun” (Sturgeon Clan)
“Wa Koh sh (Fox) Protector”

It is with profound heartbreak and sadness, that a Heart of Gold is on her Journey to the Spirit World…

It is with brokenness, that we will find solace knowing that our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sibling, Aunt, Friend, and Co-worker, Deborah, is no longer suffering and know that she is at peace.

She refused treatment and chose to ride out her storm… though we may not understand, we must somehow accept this, for this was her choice.

This took a lot of strength, to accept that which she was given.

Deborah was predeceased by her husband, partner, and friend, Mark Linklater; granddaughter Hayden; parents Christina and Napoleon Kennedy; maternal grandparents Maria and Alex Bushie; paternal grandparents Florence and Roderick Kennedy, affectionately known as ‘Mamama’ and ‘Tatata’; sister Priscilla; brothers Richard, Delmar, and Glenn Kennedy; maternal uncles Joseph and Clifford Bushie; maternal aunts Carrie, Evelyn, Laura, Alice Jean, Linda, Theresa, and Rita; paternal uncle Rudolph; paternal aunts Judith, Dorothy, Julia, Edith, Evelyn, Audrey, and Melvina; sisters-in-law Debbie Smith, Geraldine Kennedy, and Mary; nephews Kevin, Pinesi, John Donald Smith JD, and Sugar; niece Stacy and Stacy’s son Jerry, Tayryn, Trudie, Abwii-Giizis, and Renee; grand nephew Brandon; and last but not least “Neetee” – Arnold Young, she said “I do not want to forget to add Neetee.”

Deborah leaves to cherish her memory, her sister Jackie; brothers Eric, Kenny, Arnold, Christopher, and Francis; also her children's father, Allan Meade; her daughter Laverne and her children, Skyler, Emery, Darian, and Bluesky; grandson’s Landon, Liam (Nootin), and Noah; her son Jonathan and his children, Gage, Gabriel, Alliyah, Angelina, and Dorothy; her daughter Brittany and her children, Naevaeh, Christopher, Daniel (DJ), Genesis, Akari, and Scarlette; her daughter Christina and her children, Brooklyn, Zayden, Romeo, Kirby Jr., Tayryn, and Thundercloud.

And many other relatives and friends.

Deborah leaves these words to her children, “Thank you for walking with me and remember all the good things that I have taught you.”

Deborah affectionately teased her grandchildren and gave them nicknames and was genuinely interested in their education and career choices. She loved her grandchildren and thought they were all special in their own unique way.

Deborah credits her dream of becoming a social worker and support worker to the teachings and guidance she received from her brother Eric and her mentor Martina.

Deborah was an amazing role model for her children and others. Her work ethics were exemplary!

Her work history is as follows; Southeast CFS, Awasis CFS, Dakota CFS, Intertribal CFS, Sagkeeng CFS, Island Lake CFS, and Family Services.

Her service in the Child Care system was a dream that brought fulfillment in her life.

She requested the following…

Pallbearers: Her brothers and her nephew – Eric Kennedy, Kenny Kennedy, Arnold Kennedy, Christopher Kennedy, Francis Kennedy, and Jason Kennedy.

Honorary Pallbearers: Her children and her grandchildren – Laverne Kennedy, Jonathan Kennedy, Brittany Kennedy, Christina Kennedy, Skyler Kennedy, Naveah Kennedy, and all the rest of her grandchildren and her 3 great-grandchildren.

Wake service to be held on Friday March 6, 2026, from 6pm - 11pm, at Eternal Grace Funerals (10-1111 Logan Ave. Winnipeg MB).

Cremation to follow.
