David Dorian Boulanger

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Dorian Boulanger.

February 12, 1976 - June 28, 2025

Born a true artist David Dorian was a singer, painter and so much more. In 2006 his acclaimed musical group 'Burnt Project 1' won a Juno. It was a testament to his immense talent and ability to create remarkable music that reached people of all walks of life all over the world. But he was more than that. He also had incredible respect for his ancestral ways. He was a traditional tool maker of rattles, drums, and Sweat Lodges. His Spirit Names were Little Boy Drum, White Eagle, and Giant Little People Man. Just before he passed, he was proudly making a water drum as he was preparing to fast and build a new lodge.

David loved being on the land and was generous with his teachings, his gifts and his knowledge. He nurtured so many through ceremony and songs. He guided many to walk in their gifts with honour, gratitude and spiritual responsibility.

His greatest pride in life were his children, Waabishki Bineshii, Waabishki Kookominaangeshii, Ishbiming, Niikaaniis and Aadizookaan. His legacy will live on through them. He also leaves behind his beloved mother Kathy Boulanger-Budd, his stepfather David Budd and his loving wife of seven years Janine Niizhode along with countless family members, friends, colleagues and fans. He will be met by his father David Michelle and other loved ones who’ve gone before him.

Miigwech gakina awiya for joining the family during this difficult time. He worked and shared his gifts with many people. He loved everyone.

Service will be held on Monday July 14, 2025, at Eternal Grace Funerals, 1111 Logan Ave. at 11am.

Interment at Brookside Cemetery to follow.
