Clarence Darren Sawanash (Dalo)
September 27, 1962 – July 7, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our brother, dad, uncle, nephew, grandfather, friend and cousin, Clarence Darren Sawanash (Dalo) on Monday July 7, 2025. Clarence had been battling heart disease and has sadly succumbed to his illness.
He leaves to mourn his siblings; Elaine (Leonard), Beverly, Jeffery (Valerie), Jessie (Alfred), and Dyanne. His children; Desmond (William), Camillia (Bernard), Matrina (Buzzy), and Lauren Kennedy. Dalo has numerous nephews and cousins whom he had connections with whenever possible. Dalo also had 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Clarence was predeceased by his mom Lillian Everette (Jones), Nov 18, 1999, grandson Sebastian Flett, his best friend Ronald Green (aka Baloo Dec 24, 2020), his bestie cousins Gerald D. (Geengee), and Clifford E. (aka Dodo) and his brother George Green (Dec 18, 2018). Now he’s reunited with his family.
Pallbearers: Cassidy Prince, Arnold Sawanash, Elliot Cochrane, Marcellus Green, Colin Semple, and Mikey Berens.
Honorary Pallbearers: William Hudson, Bernard Flett, Earl Green, Elmer Everett, Vernon Felix, Brett Kemp, Allan Berens, Clovis Bittern, and all grandsons.
The family would like to thank Berens River Chief and Council, Berens River Home Care and Medical Escorts, and St Boniface Nursing Staff. Many Miigwetches!
Wake Service will be held on Thursday July 17, 2025, 7pm – 11pm, at Eternal Grace Funerals, 10-1111 Logan Ave, Winnipeg, MB.
Friday July 18, 2025, at the trailer of Clarence (Dalo) in Berens River for visitation.
Service will be held Saturday July 19, 2025, at the United Church in Berens River at 11am.

Interment at Berens River First Nation.
