Charlie Bittern Obituary

It is with sadness, we announce the passing of the Rev. Charlie Thomas Bittern on April 19,2023 at Selkirk General Hospital. The family extends a special thank you to the medical staff, the doctors, nurses, aides who saw to  his comfort and warm thank you to all the visitors at his bedside.

Charlie T. Bittern was born on October 29,1925. Charlie was predeceased by his late wife Helen Bittern nee Severite, his parents, his brother Joseph (Pete) and niece Clara Bushie, also his daughters Mary Louise, Vera Lorna, Leana Theresa June, Violet and son Dennis. He will be missed by his surviving children; Wilma Pascal, Adolph Bittern (Arlene) Darlene Stagg, Muriel Bittern, Gerald Severite (Donna) Ronald Bittern, Merle Bittern and Viola McElwain (John); numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He also developed many friendships and mentorships to young men and women particulary in his later life to  Donald, Warren, Malcom, Art Shorting and Lyle Blackbird to name a few.

Charlie was raised in Berens River, Lake Winnipeg area where he was a fisherman, hunter and trapper in the earlier part of life, and later had seasonal employment with farmers in sugar beets and potato  picking for example. He also trained as a carpenter but his primary occupation was in Ministry, after his marriage, he and his wife first founded a church in Jackhead MB. during the 1960’s and they later founded the First Nation Pentecostal Churches Inc. in the city of Winnipeg est 1986. Mom passed in July 1997. Because of his love for people, he and mom traveled throughout Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario and parts of the USA. Where he past on the message of Christ to at least four generations.

Celebration to be held Tuesday at Deliverance Church on Selkirk Ave from 7:00 P.M. till 10 P.M. and Wednesday at Eternal Grace 7 P.M. till 11 P.M.

Funeral service will be held Thursday at noon, interment to follow Brookside Cemetery.
