Boniface Baptiste Obituary

Boniface Matthew Baptiste

 February 24th, 1936 - March 24th, 2022

Boniface Baptiste (86) passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving children at the Arborg Personal Care Home on March 24th 2022 where he lived for over 25 years.

Boniface is predeceased by his wife Rosalie Baptiste; his sons Charles and Fabian Baptiste; daughters Jacqueline and Gail Baptiste; grandson Shawn Baptiste; granddaughter Amanda Hudson; great great grandson Marcus Hudson; parents Rod and Alma Baptiste; brother Francis Baptiste; and sisters Mary Batenchuk and Agnes Baptiste.

Left to cherish and honor his memory are his six children Grace Melvin, Lucille (Steve) Taylor, Francis (Iona) Baptiste, Denise Campbell, Rory (Monica) Baptiste, and Chad Baptiste as well as his 33 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren.

Boniface was born in Berens River, Manitoba to Rod and Alma Baptiste on Feb 24th 1936. When he was a boy he loved playing horseshoes, leads, as well as hunting and fishing. In his adult life he became a man of all trades. He was a fisherman, a carpenter, hunter, trapper, and also spent time working as a heavy duty operator. Being on the winter roads and fishing on Lake Winnipeg were pastimes that he truly enjoyed.

Boniface worked hard to provide for his wife and children. When he went hunting or fishing he was always generous with his catch and made sure to share it with his family and neighbors. He was always willing to help others when they needed it and did his best to ensure those close to him did not go without. Boniface also had many good friends throughout his life. He was a man of few words but could be quite comical when he wanted to be. With his children, he was very strict and made sure they grew up with a strong work ethic and manners. He did not let them get away with much but, that was his way of making sure his kids knew the basics of life and how to be kind and respectful towards others.

In his later life, he found contentment in the more peaceful pastimes that the Arborg care home had to offer. Seeing his wife Rosalie and visiting with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and their babies was something that brought him immense joy and happiness. Boniface would always shower his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and their children with love and affection whenever they came to visit. His wife Rosalie was the love of his life and he could not help but hold her hand and smile whenever he was in her presence. Boniface will always be remembered fondly by his family and those who loved him. He will forever be the feature of many family photos for loved ones and future generations to cherish in the years to come.

His family would like to thank the Arborg Personal Care Home and Eternal Grace Funerals for their service and compassion as they grieve the loss of a father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. The family would also like to thank two important individuals whom Boniface valued during his time at the Arborg Personal Care Home - Maureen Maksymyk and Mitch Johnson. Seeing them always brought a smile to his face and lifted his spirits and for that the family is extremely grateful.
