Loreen Ogemow Obituary

Loreen Ogemow AKA Loraine Okemow, was born on July 19, 1962 in God’s Lake Narrows. She was raised in God’s Lake Narrows and in different parts of Manitoba, as she was placed in foster care after her home community. Loreen spoke of her hardship growing up away from her siblings and was hurt in unbelievable ways as young women but graciously grew up to become a kind, gentle mother to her daughter Ginger Johnson.  At the age of 22 on March 5th, 1984 she had her daughter with common law partner, Leo Johnson. The two enjoyed raising their daughter together for 19 years. Loreen spent many years being the best mother she could be, often talking about wanting to have more children; but after many miscarriages, believed having Ginger was a miracle, as she stated this many times.

Loreen enjoyed activities such as beading, sewing, thrift store shopping. She loved listening to music, doing her hair, make-up and teaching others (on request) on how to care for your skin; as she was often asked about her beautiful smooth complexion.  Loreen enjoyed making others smile and was thoughtful of those around her. Often being silly, joking, and laughing as she became comfortable around others. For those who truly knew her, they can smile knowing she really had two favourite colors to wear, red, and pink and always enjoyed dressing her best.  She truly loved and adored her grandchildren, Kimberly, Charisma, Constantine, Julius, Reign, Nakiyah, and baby Leo. Loreen was proud of her brother Hubert Okemow and enjoyed spending time over the years with her cousins Bertha, Colleen and Loretta. Loreen also cared deeply for her *many relatives and friends. With great sadness on Thursday Oct 10th, 2019 Loreen passed at the HSC hospital in Winnipeg, Mb. With the memories of her love, she will live on in our hearts.

Predeceased by her, Mother Lillian and Father Alexander (Richard) Okemow, Baby Bertha (sister) Myrtle McDougall (sister) Frankie W. (brother) Linda Okemow (aunt) and Russell Leo Mason (grandson).

Leaves to Mourn: Brothers, Hubert Okemow & Johnny Okemow. Ginger & Russell, Daughter and Son in Law. And many close Nephews, Nieces, Aunts, Cousins, relatives & friends.
