Jolene Kathy Owen

With deep sorrow we announce the passing of Jolene Kathy Owen (aka JoJo) age 37 years at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB.

JoJo is survived by her mother Irene Owen (David) both from Norway House, MB. her partner of many years Samantha Berens (aka Sami) of Berens River, MB. brothers Joseph Owen Jr., Dwayne Owen (Nancy), maternal uncle George Captain (Janet) from Norway House, aunt Frances Muswagon, cousin Florence Captain (aka Flossy) both from Winnipeg. Also survived by her paternal uncles Roger Owen of Winnipeg, Roddy Owens, and Lloyd Owen (Andrea) from Pauingassi, Randy Owen and David Owen from Winnipeg, paternal aunts Nina Owen, Nora Owen (Ivan) and Mary Jane Owen from Winnipeg, cousins Katelyn Owen (Dustin), Courtney Owen (Christopher), Kimberly Owen and her aunt Roberta Owen all from Winnipeg. JoJo is also survived by numerous family member uncles, aunts, cousin and many friends, too many to mention.

JoJo was predeceased by her late father Joseph Owen (1991) of Pauingassi, MB., maternal grandparents Henry George Captain (2010) and Sara Captain (nee Clark), (1979) from Norway House Cree Nation. Paternal grandparents Roderick Owen (2015) and Cecile Joyce Owen (nee Owens) (2008) from Pauingassi. Also predeceased by maternal uncle Frederick Captain (1969) and aunt Flora Captain (2007) from Norway House, paternal uncle Don Owen (2006) of Pauingassi.

Jolene was the first born to parents Irene and the late Joseph Owen who were married January 16, 1982 in Winnipeg. Growing up in Winnipeg JoJo completed her primary and secondary education and graduated from grade 12 program at Yellowquill College. Her lifelong aspiration was to work with people with addiction issues. She had that ability to help people. Growing up in Winnipeg she had a very happy childhood and she was very close to her paternal grandparents Roderick and Cecile. She loved playing sports especially basketball and skateboarding.

 Wake service will be held on Monday July 8, 2019 7pm -10pm at Eternal Grace Funerals 1111 Logan Ave. at McPhillips St. Reverend Connie Budd officiating.

Wake service will continue Tuesday July 9, 2019 7pm-10pm also from the chapel with Reverend Henry Neufeld officiating.

Funeral service will take place on Wednesday July 10, 2019 11am-1pm also from the chapel with Reverend Henry Neufeld officiating. Interment Brookside Cemetery. Followed by lunch at Eternal Grace Funerals reception room starting at 3pm.

The Family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the ICU second floor St. Boniface Hospital.
