Peacefully in his sleep, Douglas passed away at the Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg on Wednesday November 13, 2019. He left this life, as he lived it, quietly and peacefully.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife Carrie of 52 years; children Trevor, Dana, Merle (Stacy) and Roxanne (Hector); grandchildren Trevor Jr., Joshua, Nicholas, Tina, Navarone, Cassia, and Curtis; numerous nieces and nephews, and other family members.
Douglas was predeceased by his son Curtis, parents William and Margaret; sisters Rebecca and Mary; brothers Joseph, James, Jacob and Leonard.
Wake service will be held on Friday, November 15, 2019 from 7pm-11pm, at Eternal Grace Funerals 1111 Logan Ave. (at McPhillips St.) Pastor Gerald Green officiating. Wake service will continue, Saturday November 16 and Sunday November 17, 2019 at the Berens River United Church. Funeral service will follow on Monday November 18, 2019 at 12 noon, also from the church. Rev. Roy Bouchie officiating. Interment Berens River.
The family would like to thank the staff of 3 east Riverview Health Centre for all their care, and to the palliative care nurses who looked after him at his home. Special thanks to the Chief and council of Berens River for all their continued help and support.
Pallbearers will be Mark Swain, Doyle Swain, Jack Bear, Stanford Boulanger, Melvin Everette, and Trevor McKay-Swain.
Honorary pallbearers will be Glen Flett, John Robert Ross, Howard Berens, and Glen Everette Sr.
